Introduction to CHIMEI group

Museo Chi Mei Eight instruments of the Gio Paolo Maggini in Brescia exhibition are provided by CHIMEI Culture Foundation from Taiwan, one of the leading violin collectors in the world. The collection is known for its incredible quantity and quality, containing from almost every famous luthiers in the history of violin making.

Since its founding in 1959, CHIMEI Corporation has been a major player in the Petro-Chemical industry for more than 40 years. CHIMEI was the first acrylic sheet manufacturer in Taiwan. Its ACRYPOLYR was called the Acrylic Sheet of Taiwan, and the chairman Hsu has become known as the “Father of Taiwan Acrylic”. Not only being one of the largest ABS, PS, AS, BR, TPE and PMMA makers in the world, CHIMEI has also ventured into different fields such as food, hospitality, telecommunication, trading, and other hi-tech industries. Among the top five TFT-LCD manufacturers in the world, CHIMEI supplies panels for notebook, desktop monitor, and TV applications.

“Business as a way to pursue fulfillment” has been the operating principle of the entire Group. Hence, CHIMEI set up the CHIMEI Culture Foundation in 1977. During its twenty-year art patronage, CHIMEI Culture Foundation has become one of the finest art institutes in Asia, featured by various art sponsorships and its own orchestra and museum.

CHIMEI Museum preserves troves from antiquities, paintings, sculptures, weapons, specimens, and music instruments. Opened in 1995, the admission-free museum is located in southern Taiwan and has become one of the most popular art venues of the region.
